The suggestion that some British nationals may be involved in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai confirms the worldwide nature of the terrorist web whose poisonous spiders lurk in the lawless northern regions of Pakistan.Intelligence officials in the UK say there is no evidence yet to confirm this but it would not be surprising if it were true.
British nationals with Pakistani backgrounds have been involved in many terrorist incidents, both in this country and abroad.
The first indications that radicalised British Muslims were travelling abroad to fight emerged from Bosnia in the mid-1990s. In 1998, British casualties were reported among the dead in mujahideen camps in Afghanistan attacked by American missiles.
In 2002, the American journalist Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. Originally from east London, he attended a British public school before dropping out of the LSE.
Another British-born Muslim extremist, belonging to the Pakistani-based militant organisation Jaish-i-Muhamnmad, killed 32 people when he rammed a lorry packed with explosives into an Indian army barracks in Kashmir.
In 2003, two other British, Asif Mohammed Hanif and Omar Sharif, travelled to Tel Aviv to carry out a suicide bomb attack there.
One thing that all had in common, apart from their faith, is that they attended mosques or events in Britain where fundamentalist messages were routinely issued. They also had family links with Pakistan which made it easier for them to travel to the country where they would be trained by jihadists. They had already been radicalised at home. An estimated 400,000 trips a year are made by Britons of Pakistani origin to their ancestral homeland.
While radicalised Islamists may have attended mainstream schools, they do so in the company of other Muslims. After school, they may have special Koranic classes. They go to mosques where preachers extol the glories of jihad. They belong to a stratum of our society that disavows the mainstream culture and is often divorced from it. They own their greater allegiance to their faith and to politics than to Britain.
If it turns out that British citizens were involved, MI5 will at least hope that they have had their suspicions about them otherwise this would mean they are entirely 'off radar.'
However, if the security service did know about them the question will then arise as to whether any information about them was handed over to the Pakistanis and, if so, whether it was acted upon.
More to the point, if a British connection is confirmed, everyone will wonder why Scotland Yard's counter-terroism command has the time to arrest and question a Tory MP for embarrassing the government over immigration when its principal task is tracking those who are a real risk to the security of this nation and of others.

Obama: Fear and the Security Force

In all my life I have never seen such intense emotion surrounding a leader as that evoked by Barack Obama. Even Ronald Reagan, the Gipper himself, didn’t enjoy the kind of prostration of the will offered to the president-elect by hordes of followers. Yet, while people the world over are imbued with “hope” and chant Obama’s slogan “Yes, we can!” – for instance, the French are using their translation of it, “Oui, nous pouvons!” – some of the intense emotion is of a very different species.
It is fear.
In all my life I have never seen an American politician who could make so many Americans’ blood run cold. Some may mention the left’s feelings regarding Reagan or President Bush, but there is no equivalency. For all of leftists’ bluster and melodrama, they weren’t afraid of those men as much as they, well, just hated them. Sure, leftist ideologues said those two Republicans were scary, but the same people also said that each one was both dumb and Machiavellian. Hatred is an emotion, and emotion isn’t logical; it just conjures up whatever feels right at the moment.
In Obama’s case, however, I sense a real, palpable, go-white-in-the-face fear akin to what might be evident in someone who has a gun put to his head or believes he has seen a demon. I know for instance, a stout-hearted man of rough-hewn breeding and my political persuasion who has said about the impending changing of the guard, “I’m afraid.”
However, he is a right-winger like me, and just as with the leftist ideologues who “feared” Reagan and Bush, we aren’t exactly a representative sample of America.
But this is what is truly, well, scary. I have seen this fear not just in rightist politics wonks but also in people who are not in the habit of troubling much over politics at all. For example, I was surprised recently when a woman I know – someone who could easily abide by the injunction, “Never discuss religion or politics” – said in a most sober fashion that she was thinking of leaving the country. Then there is an elderly Jewish gentleman of my acquaintance who lived through WWII; this man could be described as almost apolitical, was probably more apt to vote Democrat than Republican and isn’t given to issuing political opinion, let alone hyperbole. Yet when someone else broached the subject of Obama’s legions of fawning admirers, he broke his pattern and interjected, “This is like what happened with Hitler. . . .”
Then consider this statement printed a couple of months ago:
“Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas. They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of ‘social change.’”
Is this the rambling of some right-wing site occupying the dark recesses of the Web or a radical on a soapbox? I mean, after all, it’s not the kind of thing you read in the New York Times. Actually, it’s excerpted from a September 4 piece in Investor’s Business Daily (IBD), a mainstream paper of great repute.
Are all these people delusional? Are they simply stuck in time and afraid of change?
Maybe it’s that they have some idea what that change will be.
Fear can certainly be and often is irrational. Yet, generally speaking, the most real fear comes from real threats. A ghost story may scare a child, but not nearly as much as if he actually sees a ghost. Imagining what it’s like to have a gun to your head may be scary, but not as much so as if you feel cold, blued steel pressed against your temple. And I sense real fear.
What is there to be afraid of? A good place to start is with the content of the IBD story cited earlier.
Most of us have heard Obama state that “We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the military. This alone is enough to send shivers up an informed spine, but it gets even worse when you hear the specifics. Obama intends to use a radical activist group he helped found called “Public Allies” as the model for, as IBD puts it, “. . . his Orwellian program, ‘Universal Voluntary Public Service.’”
IBD reports on the inducements used to entice young people into this national service corps and its true aim:
. . . they'll get a monthly stipend of up to $1,800, plus paid health and child care. They also get a post-service education award of $4,725 that can be used to pay off past student loans or fund future education.
But its real mission is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about ‘social change’ through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation — the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul "The Red" Alinsky.
As bad as this sounds, I believe the reality will be far worse. I’ll explain where I think this will lead, but first we must understand a collective psychological phenomenon that is now apparent.
When Abraham in the Bible was prepared to obey God’s command and sacrifice his son Isaac on Mount Moriah, it was, and this may shock some, understandable. God is perfect and the author of morality, and while we may not always understand His ways, the Divine Mind always knows what is best. So the story is a lesson of faith and trust in God. God cannot be wrong. You don’t question God.
Whether you have faith or not, it’s easy enough to grasp that such deference is understandable when talking about a perfect, divine being. But it’s downright dangerous when applied to a human being. Any human being.
Unfortunately, while the deific monikers applied to Obama such as “The One” or “The Messiah” have become grist for comedians, humorists and just plain old wise-guys, they’re no laughing matter. They reflect a real spirit that has imbued millions, and this is why far scarier than Obama are his followers. They have deified the man, and you don’t question your god. I truly believe that just as many Germans followed Hitler over the precipice during WWII, there are many Americans today who would follow Obama unquestioningly, unthinkingly, unknowingly – into the fires of Hell.
If this sounds as laughable as deific labels, know that it isn’t radical to claim that a continually-recycling historical pattern will manifest itself again and can do so here; radical is to imply that within American borders the laws of man’s nature are somehow suspended. In nature (not culture), Americans are no different from the people who followed Hitler, Mussolini, Ayatollah Khomeini, Pol Pot or Lenin. The tendency to deify leaders is universal.
With this understanding, I’ll now give you my prediction as to how Obama’s Universal Voluntary Public Service program will evolve.
With his oratorical skills and a complicit media, the president-elect will be able to sell this scheme with talk about security, equality and liberating the downtrodden. “It’s the best way to combat crime, hopelessness and a lack of opportunity in the inner city,” he will say. “And I know this well from my days as a community organizer on Chicago’s mean streets.” He will tout how it provides health care, education and skills to the have-nots, and his media-oiled silver tongue’s salesmanship will prevail. It will be sold with a low-end price tag, and his fellow-traveler controlled Houses will echo the message and deliver the votes. Of course, just like Social Security and a trove of other government programs, its cost will make a mockery of predictions. But Uncle Sam’s budget projections aren’t designed for budgets, but for marketing.
As always happens with such groups, program members will eventually be identified with some colloquial and catchy label. I can’t tell you what it will be, only that it won’t be Brownshirts or Blackshirts. And the official name of the program itself may even be changed a few years hence.
As with the Public Allies program, members will have to attend seminars and “retreats” where they will be indoctrinated with leftist ideology. Aside from learning how America is a “racist and “sexist” country, they will be taught that she is also ridden with “heterosexism,” which, IBD writes, “. . . a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of ‘capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege.’” They will be taught that these evils can never be vanquished until every last vestige of traditional America is utterly destroyed.
The pressure to conform will be immense, as it always is in politically-correct entities. The corps will have a huge core of true believers, who will act as ideological hammers. They will preach diversity but practice conformity.
Just like Public Allies, this program may be birthed primarily in the inner cities. That is where Obama’s main support is, and, as stated before, he will claim this is where the corps’ help is needed most. It will then be empowered to do “social good,” which could mean anything from helping at soup kitchens to recruiting those ripe for indoctrination to forming some kind of neighborhood crime watch. As for the last task, though, given the corps’ ideology and the fact that it will be drawing members from high-crime areas initially, I expect it to contain a not insignificant criminal element. It will be corrupt from the get-go and may even assume the character of an organized crime syndicate.
But its “security” mandate will be chilling. In the name of combating garden-variety crime and, more specifically, terrorism, who knows what powers the corps will be granted? Will they one day help enforce an order to seize firearms, if not via direct action then through information gathering? I can’t know exactly, but I do know the powers will be misused.
Over time, the program may be expanded to include a corps for even younger adolescents, perhaps starting at age 13 or 14. As before, I can’t tell you exactly what it will be called, but it won’t be “The Obama Youth” – not officially, anyway. And, certainly by this time, joining it will be the thing the “cool” kids do, sort of like the Boy Scouts’ evil twin.
Then, the result may be that we will have, to use John Edwards’ terminology, “two Americas”: Those who belong to the corps and those who don’t. But I think I know which of the two will be more formidable. Remember when the student thugs at Columbia University stormed a stage to stop Minutemen representatives from speaking? Similar things have happened at colleges throughout the country, and they give us a glimpse into the character of the corps. Just picture the same fascist-minded bullies, only more organized, more numerous, even more ideological and far, far bolder. And many authorities in the nation may tolerate their intimidation with a wink and a nod.
We should also take note of the program’s name, Universal Voluntary Public Service. One of the definitions of “universal” is, “affecting, concerning, or involving all [emphasis mine].” And I suspect the word most likely to be dropped from the name eventually is not “universal” but “voluntary.”
Of course, they don’t call me the Amazing Kreskin. I’m no soothsayer and I could be wrong about many of the details I provided. But the fear is real and the historical allusions are valid.
Speaking of which, Georgia Congressman Paul Broun recently addressed the program and exhibited both fear and a grasp of history, saying:
"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did. When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."
Of course, many will nevertheless say that such concerns are but the musings of the tin-foil hat crowd. But such scoffing is par for the course. As Professor Manfred Weidhorn of Yeshiva University wrote:
. . . even if you are prescient enough to observe oncoming evils, you are prevented from acting precisely because other people, being normal, lack your prescience. They therefore see you, rather than the evil person, as the deluded or warmongering malevolent soul. When Churchill warned about Hitler in the 1930s, many people became more upset with Churchill than with Hitler. The anomaly is that the prophet has therefore to wait for the evil to manifest itself and thereby to make everyone else see things the prophet’s way. But by then the chance to do anything may be gone.
So there is an answer for those who would say “You’ve thoroughly Godwinned yourself, Duke.” If you bristle at the comparison and don’t want to wear the shoe, then the onus is on you to be vigilant, to make sure it never, ever fits.

Of course, many will nevertheless say that such concerns are but the musings of the tin-foil hat crowd. But such scoffing is par for the course. As Professor Manfred Weidhorn of Yeshiva University wrote:
. . . even if you are prescient enough to observe oncoming evils, you are prevented from acting precisely because other people, being normal, lack your prescience. They therefore see you, rather than the evil person, as the deluded or warmongering malevolent soul. When Churchill warned about Hitler in the 1930s, many people became more upset with Churchill than with Hitler. The anomaly is that the prophet has therefore to wait for the evil to manifest itself and thereby to make everyone else see things the prophet’s way. But by then the chance to do anything may be gone.
So there is an answer for those who would say “You’ve thoroughly Godwinned yourself, Duke.” If you bristle at the comparison and don’t want to wear the shoe, then the onus is on you to be vigilant, to make sure it never, ever fits.

Totalitarianism - The Witnesses Speak
Most Americans have had little or no teaching about totalitarianism, or about its conjoined twins, Communism and Nazism. Our schools do not teach about it, and our media, by and large, ignore it.When they do address it, it is to tell us that it does not exist.
Now, some of its victims and witnesses are speaking out. They are trying to warn the American people that what has happened in their former countries is rapidly approaching us, also.
One such witness, Hilmar von Campe, a former German Hitler Youth member, sounds the alarm. An article by WorldNetDaily dated November 13, 2008, quotes von Campe:
“Every day brings this nation closer to a Nazi-style totalitarian abyss,” writes Hilmar von Campe, now a U.S. citizen, and author of ‘Defeating the Totalitarian Lie: A Former Hitler Youth Warms America’".
….”I lived the Nazi nightmare, and, as the saying goes, ‘A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument,’” writes von Campe. “Everything I write is based on my personal experience in Nazi Germany. There is nothing theoretical about my description of what happens when a nation throws God out of government and society, and Christians become religious bystanders.”
…..”It took me a long time to understand and define the nature of National Socialism”, says von Campe. “And, unfortunately, their philosophy continues to flourish under different labels remaining a menace to America and free human society.”
…..”Democratic procedures can be subverted and dishonest politicians are like sand in the gearbox, abundant, everywhere and destructive,” he writes. “What I see in America today is people painting their cabins while the ship goes down. Today in America we are witnessing a repeat performance of the tragedy of 1933 when an entire nation let itself be led like a lamb to the Socialist slaughterhouse. This time, the end of freedom is inevitable unless America rises to her mission and destiny.”
But, aren’t people in our government watching out for us? Where are the guards?
Some are bound by the sinews of political correctness. Many are drugged, frozen by poison. Arsenic? Sarin? Cyanide? No, TV, which has immobilized them. Many are counting their bribes.
Why don’t we hear more about this? Does the serpent announce himself before his fangs pierce the soft flesh of his victim? His poison stills its resistance, precluding any chance of survival.
Stealth is employed by the totalitarians. They are chameleons, covertly hiding among us.
A similar witness to totalitarianism comes from Gemma Meyer, in an article titled “The Coming Darkness. A Warming for Americans: A Message from South Africa.”
She writes that America’s structures have given us the right to try to sway our government by writing letters, manning stands at country fairs, hosting fund-raising dinners, attending rallies, setting up conferences and writing to our Congress people. However, she warns:
“But, woe to you if - or more likely, when - the rules change. White Americans may soon find themselves unable or unwilling to stand up to challenge the new political methods that will be the inevitable result of the ethnic metamorphosis now taking place in America. Unable to cope with the new rules of the game - violence, mob riots, intimidation through accusation of racism, demands of proportionality cased on racial numbers, and all the other social and political weapons used by the have-nots to bludgeon treasure and power from the haves - Americans, like others before them, will no doubt cave in. They will compromise away their independence and ultimately their way of life.
“That is exactly what happened to South Africa. I know because I was there and saw it happen.”
“Faced with revolution in the streets, strikes, civil unrest and the sheer terror and murder practiced by Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress (ANC), the white government simply capitulated in order to achieve ‘peace’”.

….“Those in the West who forced South Africa to surrender to the ANC and its leaders did not consider Africa to be the dangerous, corrupt, and savage place that is now in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Those Western politicians now have a similar problem looming on their own doorsteps: the demand for power and treasure from the non-western peoples inside the realm.
“It is already too late for South Africa, but not for America if enough people strengthen their spine and take on the race terrorists, the armies of ‘politically correct’ and, most dangerous of all, the craven politicians who believe ‘compassionate conservatism’ will buy them more votes, a few more days of peace.”
…..”We lost our country through skillful propaganda, pressure from abroad (not least from the USA), unrelenting charges of ‘oppression’ and ‘racism’ and the shrewd assessment by African tyrants that the white man has many Achilles heels, the most significant of which are his compassion, his belief in the ‘equality of man’ and his ‘love thy neighbor’ philosophy - none of which are part of the Third World’s history.
“The mainline churches played a big role in the demise of Western influence throughout Africa, too; especially in South Africa. Today’s tyrants were yesterday’s mission school protégés. Many dictators in Africa were men of the cloth. They knew their clerical collars would deflect criticism and obfuscate their real aims, which had nothing whatever to do with ‘brotherhood of man’”.
(A priest friend, who had spent several years teaching in South Africa, could hardly wait for the new government to take over. When asked, several months after the takeover, how it was going, his disappointment was acute. He replied, “New government, same problems”. He was soon faced with a robbery inside the Catholic compound where he taught. He was held up at gunpoint and feels lucky to have escaped with his life. He had reason to fear his murder, as some had been committed against clergymen.)
“Other tyrants, like the infamous Idi Amin, were trained and schooled by the whites themselves at Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard. After receiving the best from the West, they unleashed a resentful bloodlust against their benefactors.”
Gemma Meyer says she fears that Americans will capitulate. They don’t want to quarrel or obstruct claims of those who believe they were wronged. They like peace and quiet and they want to compromise and be nice.
Indeed, that is the main thrust of societal teaching in our schools today, even to the point of not disagreeing with the crowd. Think this isn’t so? A case in point is the massive hordes of Hispanics that took to the streets, demanding “rights” for illegal aliens. Not many pointed out that, being illegal and not citizens, they were not entitled to any of the common rights citizens enjoy.
And, Meyer asks what will happen when the new majority repudiates the rulings of judges, claiming they are racists?
“In America, the courts are still the final arbiter of society’s laws. But what will happen when your future majority refuses to abide by court rulings - as in Zimbabwe. What will happen when the new majority says the judges are racists, and that they refuse to acknowledge ‘white man’s justice’? What will happen when the courts are filled with their people, or their sympathizers? In California Proposition 187 has already been overturned.”
What will you do when they change the names of streets and cities. These may not sound like important issues, but it is part of our heritage. Meyer says we should not laugh about this. When the “majority” took over in South Africa, the first targets were national symbols. So, while we may not deem these symbols to be important, it was to those who took charge there.
Gemma Meyer notes that:
“When Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe murders his political opponents, ignores unfavorable court decisions, terrorizes the population, siphons off millions from the state treasury for himself and his friends, South Africa’s new President Thabo Mbeki holds his hand and declares his support…..”
Does this sound like something our own two parties would do? Does “Kelo” come to mind? The Supreme Court, by a slim majority, told We the People that we do not have property rights any longer if a government wants that property to give to a developer to make a profit. Also, does the word “bailout” ring a bell?
The witness Gemma Meyer gives good advice:
“Unfortunately, your habits and values work against you. You cannot fight terror and street mobs with letters to your Congressmen. You cannot fight accusations of racism with prayer meetings. You cannot appeal to the goodness of your fellow man when the fellow man despises you for your weaknesses and hacks off the arms and legs of his political opponents.”
……..“Millions around the world want your good life. But make no mistake: They care not for the high-minded ideals of Jefferson and Washington and your Constitution. What they want are your possessions, your power, your status.
“And they already know that their allies among you, the ‘human rights activists’, the skillful lawyers and the left wing politicians will fight for them and not for you. They will exploit your compassion and your Christian charity, and your good will."
“They have studied you, Mr. and Mrs. America, and they know your weaknesses well“.
“They know what to do.”

Hilmar von Campe and Gemma Meyer have sounded the alarm. They have given the best witness they could give. Will we heed their bitter experience? Will we use it to fight the totalitarianism that looms before us?

Plaintiff ANDY MARTIN (”Plaintiff”), pro se, alleges in his Complaint for Declaratory Judgment against the Defendants as follows: PARTIES, JURISDICTION AND VENUE
Plaintiff ANDY MARTIN is the author of a book on Senator Barack Obama (”Senator Obama”). He has also been writing columns and commentary about the senator for over four (4) years. Defendants LINDA LINGLE and DR. CHIYOME FUKINO are Governor and Director of the Department of Health, respectively. This Complaint for Declaratory Relief and these proceedings are instituted pursuant to § 632-1, Hawai’i Revised Statutes. Venue is proper in this Court pursuant to § 603-36, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
STATEMENT OF CLAIM 1. Plaintiff requested a certified copy of the birth certificate of Senator Obama from the Department of Health and tendered the requisite fee. 2. Defendants refused to provide a copy of said certificate, invoking the confidentiality statutes of the State. 3. The issue of the Senator’s birth certificate has become a controversial topic of intense national speculation. 4. As an author who strives for factual accuracy and attempts to conduct thorough research Plaintiff wants a copy of the Senator’s birth certificate attested to by the State and not a “certificate” which is posted on a web site and which has been debunked as possibly having been altered. 5. One of the more literate and temperate analyses of the unlawfulness of the Defendants’ refusal to issue certified copies of the birth certificate is contained in Exhibit 1 attached hereto. 6. To the extent that the Defendants’ files contain or retain original supporting data for the birth certificate, Plaintiff asks that he also be supplied with that information and/or material as well. 7. It is axiomatic that the birth certificate of a presidential candidate is a document of crucial public concern and significance. 8. While Hawai’i statutes call for a balancing or weighing test where production is considered by a court, most respectfully Plaintiff submits that the balance falls entirely on the side of disclosure where the original birth certificate of a presidential candidate is concerned.
DECLARATORY RELIEF SOUGHT
9. Based on the relevant statutes and constitutional law, including Article One, Section 4 (”freedom of the press”) and § 92F-15 (e) and § 338-18 (a) (9), Plaintiff asks that the Court direct and order defendants to turn over forthwith a copy of Senator Obama’s birth certificate and related files and records, and without any delay.
WHEREFORE, Plaintiff Andy Martin prays for relief as follows: A. For a declaration by this Court that Plaintiff is an author and writer and is a person to whom the birth certificate of Senator Obama can and should properly be delivered forthwith; B. Plaintiff ANDY MARTIN is the author of a book on Senator Barack Obama (”Senator Obama”). He has also been writing columns and commentary about the senator for over four (4) years. Defendants LINDA LINGLE and DR. CHIYOME FUKINO are Governor and Director of the Department of Health, respectively. This Complaint for Declaratory Relief and these proceedings are instituted pursuant to § 632-1, Hawai’i Revised Statutes. Venue is proper in this Court pursuant to § 603-36, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
STATEMENT OF CLAIM 1. Plaintiff requested a certified copy of the birth certificate of Senator Obama from the Department of Health and tendered the requisite fee. 2. Defendants refused to provide a copy of said certificate, invoking the confidentiality statutes of the State. 3. The issue of the Senator’s birth certificate has become a controversial topic of intense national speculation. 4. As an author who strives for factual accuracy and attempts to conduct thorough research Plaintiff wants a copy of the Senator’s birth certificate attested to by the State and not a “certificate” which is posted on a web site and which has been debunked as possibly having been altered. 5. One of the more literate and temperate analyses of the unlawfulness of the Defendants’ refusal to issue certified copies of the birth certificate is contained in Exhibit 1 attached hereto. 6. To the extent that the Defendants’ files contain or retain original supporting data for the birth certificate, Plaintiff asks that he also be supplied with that information and/or material as well. 7. It is axiomatic that the birth certificate of a presidential candidate is a document of crucial public concern and significance. 8. While Hawai’i statutes call for a balancing or weighing test where production is considered by a court, most respectfully Plaintiff submits that the balance falls entirely on the side of disclosure where the original birth certificate of a presidential candidate is concerned.
DECLARATORY RELIEF SOUGHT
9. Based on the relevant statutes and constitutional law, including Article One, Section 4 (”freedom of the press”) and § 92F-15 (e) and § 338-18 (a) (9), Plaintiff asks that the Court direct and order defendants to turn over forthwith a copy of Senator Obama’s birth certificate and related files and records, and without any delay.
WHEREFORE, Plaintiff Andy Martin prays for relief as follows: A. For a declaration by this Court that Plaintiff is an author and writer and is a person to whom the birth certificate of Senator Obama can and should properly be delivered forthwith; B. "It was among the juicier post-election recriminations: Fox News Channel quoted an unnamed McCain campaign figure as saying that Sarah Palin did not know that Africa was a continent.
Who would say such a thing? On Monday the answer popped up on a blog and popped out of the mouth of David Shuster, an MSNBC anchor. "Turns out it was Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, who has come forward today to identify himself as the source of the leaks," Shuster said.
Trouble is, Martin Eisenstadt doesn't exist. His blog does, but it's a put-on. The think tank where he is a senior fellow — the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy — is just a Web site. The TV clips of him on YouTube are fakes.
And the claim of credit for the Africa anecdote is just the latest ruse by Eisenstadt, who turns out to be a very elaborate hoax that has been going on for months. MSNBC, which quickly corrected the mistake, has plenty of company in being taken in by an Eisenstadt hoax, including The New Republic and The Los Angeles Times......"
